Prior to entering into the practice of law, Mr. McCray earned a Masters degree in biological science, with a biochemistry concentration, and spent several years running the daily operation of a molecular biology (i.e. DNA technology) laboratory. He has co-authored a number of articles and abstracts which have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
While attending Wayne State University Law School, Mr. McCray served as Note and Comment Editor of the Wayne Law Review, in which he was also published, and received the Ira Spoon award for outstanding writing on a land use topic. After earning the second highest score in the state on the July 1996 Michigan Bar Examination, Mr. McCray was admitted to the bar.
Mr. McCray's practice has focused primarily upon plaintiff/policyholder-oriented personal injury and insurance litigation. His efforts have been instrumental in obtaining millions of dollars for his clients. He is presently involved in a number of insurance disputes involving mold infestations of water-damaged homes, many of which involve scientific and/or factual issues pertaining to mold. With respect to such cases, Mr. McCray's scientific background has been invaluable, especially with regard to discrediting defense theories as to causation and identification of mold generated by indoor air quality "experts" who work soley for insurance companies. This background has also proven useful in addressing issues pertaining to admissibility of scientific evidence in both water and fire damage insurance disputes.
