Patrick King has almost 30 years experience litigating property insurance matters, including first party coverage issues and cases involving the investigation of potential arson and fraud defenses. Mr. King began his career primarily representing insurance companies. Since 2001, Mr. King has practiced exclusively on behalf of policy holders, and those injured or killed in fires and explosions.
He has litigated hundreds of cases where the origin, cause and responsibility for fires and explosions were at issue. Such cases have run the gamut from negligence and bailment theories to complex defective design product liability scenarios. In addition, Mr. King has defended and prosecuted errors and omissions cases against insurance agents and other insurance professionals, and obtained one of the largest multi-million dollar judgments against an insurance agent in Michigan legal history.
Mr. King has successfully achieved the designation of Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator from the National Association of Fire Investigators. He has lectured extensively on a variety of topics relating to the origin and cause of fires and explosions, including presentations to fire investigaton organizations, fire science classes, and insurance professionals. He has also taught at claim schools and seminars conducted by a number of insurance companies, focusing on advance investigative techniques and other aspects of claims handling procedure.
