Our firm includes a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Technical Committee on Fire Investigations. This committee is responsible for authoring NFPA 921, Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations, which is regarded as the most authoritative text in the field of fire investigation. In addition he is also a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Fire Investigator Professional Qualifications, which is responsible for NFPA 1033 Standard for Professional Qualification for Fire Investigators.
Michael H. Fabian is an editor of the authoritative book Michigan Insurance Law and Practice published by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE), co-authoring the chapter on property insurance law. He is also an alternate member of the NFPA 921 Technical Committee on Fire Investigations. He authored the chapter on Fire Loss Insurance Coverage Disputes in the "Michigan Causes of Action Formbook", also published by ICLE.
Stuart A. Sklar is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, and is a frequent lecturer on fire investigation techniques and trial strategies involving the origin and cause of fires. He is a principal member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Fire Investigations, responsible for NFPA 921 Guide for Fire and Explosion Investigations, and is also a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Fire Investigator Professional Qualifications, responsible for NFPA 1033 Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigators.
Patrick A. King is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator, and has lectured to professional and industry groups on a variety of topics, including fire investigation methodologies, property insurance coverage issues, and litigation techniques. Mr. King co-authored the property insurance chapter of Michigan Insurance Law & Practice. Mr. King's 24 years experience in representing insurance companies in property insurance disputes before joining the firm in 2001 provides unique insight for the benefit of our clients.
